Trim and doors

The woodwork a room is framed by

In a 1920s bungalow or a 1990s two-story, trim does the quiet work of making walls look finished.

Baseboard, window and door casing, chair rail, wainscot, crown and interior doors all get the same treatment: dents filled, old caulk cut out, joints re-caulked, a bonding primer and two coats of a trim enamel that levels to a smooth finish.

We work room by room and can paint trim before, with or after your walls.

What's included

  • Gaps and nail holes filled, joints re-caulked

  • Sanded between coats for a smooth, level finish

  • Doors painted off the hinges when you want both faces and edges

About trim

Trim and door questions

My house was built before 1978. Does that change anything?

Yes. Federal rules from the EPA apply to paid work that disturbs paint in homes and child-occupied buildings built before 1978. The firm must hold the EPA's firm certification and follow its work practices. Our firm number is in the footer and on the About page, and you can ask to see it before work starts.

How do you protect my floors, counters and appliances?

We cover floors, counters and appliances with paper and plastic, mask the walls and keep a HEPA vacuum on the sanders. Doors are finished in the shop, away from your kitchen.

Can you help me choose a color?

Yes. Bring a swatch, a photo or the color of your counters, and we'll paint sample boards on the same primer so you see the color at your window, in your light.

What is on your written estimate?

The number of doors, drawer fronts and boxes, the repairs, the primer and finish with sheen, the colors, the hardware plan, the schedule, the payment schedule and the warranty. If a line isn't there, it isn't included.
